Digital Product Innovation

Digital technologies are transforming design and product development processes and driving competitiveness.
They provide significant opportunities for reducing time to market, for optimising and testing designs, and for bringing products and environments alive using 3D visualisation technologies. And of course mobile apps are fast becoming essential enhancements to product offers. Great design still underpins all successful development though!
Digital Product Innovation brings together these key dimensions in an informative and stimulating workshop for businesses committed to developing the competitiveness of their products.
In the break out session participants can discuss and explore Design topics relating to your business.
The workshops are led by Dafydd Davies, Mark Hemlich, Gary Ross, Dr Stephen Hardy, Karen Padmore and Chris Buxton.
Dafydd Davies is Chief Executive of BIC Innovation with over 30 years experience in innovation, marketing and new product development. Mark Hemlich and Gary Ross are Directors of GX Design, Wales’ leading independent product design agency. Dr Stephen Hardy is Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Science at Swansea University and works extensively in industrial design-related projects including with Corus. Karen Padmore is Chief Executive of CAST Ltd, who have developed novel visualisation and 3D applications working with wide ranging clients including the BBC, BAe, NPL, First Hydro and Serco. Chris Buxton, an award winning film director, is Senior Research Associate at Moving Image Wales at Swansea Metropolitan University, developing and promoting innovative media content and platforms.
Opportunities in Eco Design
IBERS, Aberystwyth University – 24th September 2010, 10.00am – 1.30pm
Unlocking the full potential of effective Eco-Design is a must for all manufacturers serious about the future.
Organised by Business Innovation-Design the workshop is specifically aimed at senior personnel involved in strategic management, product design and development across the spectrum of manufacturing and engineering sectors.
Effective Eco-Design not only exploits the increasing demand for innovative sustainable and renewable products, materials and processes, but Eco-Design also stimulates fresh thinking to substantially reduce material, energy and operating costs.
In the break out session participants can discuss and explore Eco-design topics relating to your business.
The workshop will be led by Dafydd Davies, Dr Frank O’Connor and Dr Paul Fowler. Dafydd Davies is Chief Executive of BIC Innovation with over 30 years experience in innovation, marketing and new product development. Dr Frank O’Connor is Director of EcoDesign Centre Wales and has worked extensively with industry, government, the EU and academia in driving and promoting the commercial potential of sustainable NPD and Innovation. Dr Paul Fowler, Director of the Welsh Institute of Natural Resources at Bangor University, is an authority in sustainable materials research including the technical and commercial development of advanced natural product and packaging solutions for many multi-nationals.
