Student and Graduate Recruitment

The Careers and Employability Service can help you recruit high quality students and graduates from the University of South Wales.

Opportunities – Is the vacancy portal for students and graduates of the University of South Wales (previously the University of Glamorgan and University of Newport).

We are able to advertise the following opportunities free of charge via our online searchable vacancy service – 'Opportunities’. The vacancies now feed through to the home page of our student portal 'UniLife’ which has over 10,000 log in’s a week. The picture to the left shows how this appears. Vacancies also be seen by registered students across all campuses that includes: Newport City campus, Caerleon campus, Glyntaff campus, Treforest and Cardiff campus. They will also be seen by all registered graduates.

• Paid Graduate Opportunities – appropriate for final year students due to graduate and recent graduates

• Paid Placements / Paid Work Experience – which includes summer / vacation work, industrial / year out placements. We will only advertise vacancies that incur a fee to the graduate/student if it is clearly stated in the advertised opportunity.

• Paid Part-time /Casual Opportunities – suitable for students, eg bar work, sales assistants. We will only advertise vacancies that incur a fee to the graduate/student if it is clearly stated in the advertised opportunity.

• Voluntary/Unpaid Work – we will not advertise unpaid vacancies unless they are for charitable or not-for-profit organisations or are “volunteering experiences” that do not incur a fee, for example travel & work overseas

Simply visit Opportunities click 'Register now’ and follow the step by step instructions to add your vacancy details.

If you experience any problems adding your vacancy details onto the system please use the help section which you have access to once registered/logged on. If still experiencing problems E-mail the Careers Service with the details of the problem.

Please Note:

• We can advertise vacancies from Recruitment Agencies but we need to be informed of the names of client(s) being represented before we can advertise any details (the client(s) names can be included within the advert on Openings or via E-mail the Careers Service and the information will not be revealed in the advert if you advise us if you wish this via email). We will also not advertise a generic vacancy/information about a recruitment agency.

• We will not advertise commission only opportunities.

• By placing any advert on to our system we will assume that all advertisements fully comply with UK Employment Laws & Legislations, including National Minimum Wage & Health & Safety Requirements – please see the Useful Links for further information and advice.

• The Careers and Employability Service reserves the right to reject adverts which we believe are not within the UK Employment Laws & Legislations, or do not meet our standards or are inappropriate.

• We do not add vacancy information on employers/organisations behalf due to limited resources or offer paper/hard copy vacancy files or notice boards due to the spread of our university over several campus locations.

Your vacancy details should include the following information:

• Company details – full address (including postcode & web address), type/description of business (essential)

• Vacancy details / requirements – degree subject/skills sought, job title, hours of work (essential)

• Salary – (essential except for Voluntary/Unpaid Work)

• How and where to apply (essential)

• Closing date – if a closing date is not supplied on-going is specified, vacancies will be displayed on the vacancy system for 1 month only

If you would like to advertise nationwide Graduate Prospects have an online portal for employers to advertise with Graduate Prospects in their various publications.

You can also advertise your vacancies nationwide via Graduate Prospects through its links with university careers services across the UK. Please note that there is a charge for this service.
